I met a strange issue with Remote Assistance: I couldn’t connect with msra to several PCs. But it worked before.<\/p>\n

After some investigation I found that if my user in the Local Administrators group – it works. After googling I supposed it’s related to DCOM and found this: https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/kb\/884910<\/a><\/p>\n

So, the resolution for me was adding my users to DCOM: Machine Access … policy in my GPO and grant all permissions for it.<\/p>\n

Modify the Group Policy where you enabled the DCOM security-related policies, and then add the Remote Assistance Helpers group with both local and remote access permissions. To do this, follow these steps:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Open the Group Policy object. To do this on the local Windows computer, click Start<\/strong>, click Run<\/strong>, type gpedit.msc<\/span>, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Expand Computer Configuration<\/strong>, expand Windows Settings<\/strong>, expand Security Settings<\/strong>, expand Local Policies<\/strong>, and then click Security Options<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Double-click DCOM: Machine Access Restrictions in Security Descriptor Definition Language (SDDL) syntax<\/strong> if this policy is enabled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Click Edit Security<\/strong>, and then click Add<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Click Locations<\/strong>, click your domain, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Type Remote Assistance Helpers<\/span>, click Check Names<\/strong>, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  7. \n

    Click to select the Remote Access<\/strong> check box in the Allow<\/strong> column, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  8. \n

    Click Apply<\/strong>, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  9. \n

    Double-click DCOM: Machine Launch Restrictions in Security Descriptor Definition Language (SDDL) syntax<\/strong> if this policy is enabled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  10. \n

    Follow steps d through f to add the Remote Assistance Helpers security group to this policy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/li>\n

  11. Click to select all the check boxes in the Allow<\/strong> column, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  12. Click Apply<\/strong>, and then click OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
