This issue can occur when the  appropriate drivers cannot be located by Windows upon boot-up and must  be manually copied in order for it to be resolved.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4 class=\"docheading Resolution\">Resolution<\/h4>\n<div class=\"doccontent cc_Resolution\">\n<h3>All Windows Versions (vmscsi only)<\/h3>\n<p>To copy the appropriate disk controller driver from a working virtual machine with a Windows guest operating system:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>Power on the source for the conversion. The source can be physical or virtual.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Download the VMware SCSI Disk Controller driver diskette at <a href=\"http:\/\/download3.vmware.com\/software\/vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/download3.vmware.com\/software\/vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp<\/a>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>If the source is virtual, attach the driver diskette to the virtual machine&#8217;s virtual floppy drive.<\/p>\n<p>If the source is physical use any of these methods to copy the files from the diskette image:<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>Extract the disk image into files and copy them to the source.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Attach the diskette to a virtual machine and copy the files from the virtual diskette drive to the physical source.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Write contents of the image onto a floppy diskette and insert the diskette into the physical source.<br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong>: \u00a0Image extraction software is required to use this method.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Access the floppy diskette or files on the source from <strong>My Computer<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Right-click <span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">vmscsi.inf<\/span> and click <strong>Install<\/strong>. The VMware SCSI drivers are installed.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Restart the source to complete installation.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Perform another conversion with VMware Converter.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Windows 2008 and Windows 7 (LSI SAS)<\/h3>\n<div>Windows 2008\u00a0and Windows 7 have the LSI SAS driver installed by default, but they require a registry key to activate it:<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Confirm that the target machine has <span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">lsi_sas.sys<\/span> present in <span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">C:WindowsSystem32Drivers<\/span>.\u00a0 This should be included by default on\u00a0Windows installation.\u00a0If it is missing, copy it from a working virtual machine.<\/li>\n<li>Power on a working Windows\u00a02008 or Windows 7\u00a0virtual machine.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Start<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Run, <\/strong>type regedit, and press Enter.<\/li>\n<li>Navigate\u00a0to and export this registry key (right-click <strong>Export<\/strong>):\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesLSI_SAS<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Import the registry keys from step 4 on to the\u00a0source system to be converted.<\/li>\n<li>Restart the source\u00a0system\u00a0to complete installation.\u00a0 This will require a downtime of the source system.<\/li>\n<li>Perform another conversion with VMware Converter.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Windows 2003 (lsilogic and vmscsi)<\/h3>\n<p>To copy the appropriate disk controller driver from a working virtual machine with Windows 2003 installed:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>Power on the source for the conversion. The source can be physical or virtual.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Power on a working virtual machine running Windows 2003.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Copy the LSI Logic disk controller driver file located in <span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">%systemroot%system32driverssymmpi.sys<\/span> to the source for the conversion.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<div>Copy the VMware SCSI disk controller device driver file, if present, located in <span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">%systemroot%system32driversvmscsi.sys<\/span> to the source for the conversion.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Click <strong>Start<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Run<\/strong>, type regedit, and press Enter.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Browse to and export these registry keys:\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Courier New\">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicessymmpi<\/p>\n<p>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlCriticalDeviceDatabase<br \/>\npci#ven_1000&amp;dev_0030<\/p>\n<p>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesvmscsi<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<strong>Note<\/strong>: The vmscsi service registry key may not exist if VMware Tools is not installed on the virtual machine.<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Import the registry keys from step 6 on to the conversion source.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Restart the source to complete installation.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>Perform another conversion with VMware Converter.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Windows XP \/ 2000 \/ NT (buslogic and vmscsi)<\/h3>\n<p>To copy the appropriate disk controller driver from a working virtual machine with a Windows XP\/2000\/NT guest operating system:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div>Power on the source for the conversion.
