RESOLUTION<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In order to take an online Exchange-aware backup of a server using LCR or serving as an SCR target you must disable the Replica VSS Writer used by LCR.\u00a0 To do so, follow these steps:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Open Registry Editor and browse to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftExchangeReplayParameters<\/strong> registry key.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Add a new DWORD value named EnableVSSWriter<\/strong> and set the value to 0 <\/strong>(zero).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Restart the Microsoft Exchange Replication Service<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This will allow Windows Server Backup to use the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service’s VSS Writer to perform the backup.\u00a0 You can confirm that the backup was successful by starting the Recovery Wizard in Windows Server Backup\u00a0and verifying that you are able to select the Exchange<\/strong> application for recovery.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
